Student Council
Pietrini’s Student Council is sponsored by Mrs. Madrid and Ms. Criss. The Student Council is also lead by four fifth grade officers, a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The officers are elected by their third, fourth, and fifth grade peers after they give speeches sharing their strongest traits and leadership qualities, as well as their goals for the school year. The Student Council strives to plan activities and fundraisers that are fun and engaging for all students throughout the school year. Some popular activities include making holiday themed crafts, candy jar guessing, coloring contests, selling school supplies, and our annual snack sale. In addition to fundraising, the Student Council participates in an anti-bullying event with the District 84 PTA, hosts a food drive for a local food pantry, and attends an annual Earth Day celebration with the Franklin Park Park District. Student Council hosts spirit weeks, gives encouraging messages during annual state testing, and shows thanks and appreciation to all the teachers and staff at Pietrini School during Teacher Appreciation Week.
One of the greatest parts of Student Council is making decisions about the events they will hold, as well as the goals they have for the money they raise. The Student Council has traditionally been focused on giving back to help others as one of their goals. The officers have made donations to Feed My Starving Children, various charities to honor teachers, the District 84 Foundation’s Christmas Bookstore event, and Pietrini School for things such as books and recess equipment. Student Council provides an opportunity for students to be leaders, learn how to work together, set goals, and make decisions with the interest of the Pietrini Community in mind.
